Take on Africa’s most legendary alpine challenge — the North Face Standard Route to Batian Peak (5,199m) on Mount Kenya. This 7-day expedition is designed for experienced climbers seeking the ultimate high-altitude rock climbing adventure on Africa’s second-highest mountain. The route combines breathtaking scenery, technical climbing, and world-class guiding from our NOLS Africa–certified professionals, ensuring safety, precision, and an unforgettable mountaineering experience.
Climbing the North Face requires solid skills — at least 5.9 American or European V grade proficiency — and strong acclimatization. The ascent features multiple technical pitches, including the iconic Firmin’s Tower, followed by exhilarating exposure along Batian’s summit ridge. The best climbing season is June to September, when the North Face is mostly snow-free, offering stable weather and excellent rock conditions.
